Bengal Mustard Hilsha(Sorse Hilsha)


Mustard Hilsha is very famous in Bangladesh and West Bengal.It is the national fish of Bangladesh.This fish really taste great with mustard seeds and mustard oil.It's mouth watering and very delicious.

Prep Time: 30 Minutes 
Cook time: 20 Minutes 

Ingredients:

8 pieces of hilsha fish with their eggs separated (cleaned and washed)
2 cups chopped onion
3 tbsp black mustard seeds powder
1 tbsp garlic paste or 4 to 5 whole garlic
1/2 cup mustard oil
3 green chili ( cut into the middle )
Cilantro to garnish
1 & 1/2 tsp salt

Preparations:

Step 1:
In a plate,marinate the hilsha fish with 1 tsp of salt and keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 2 :
In another bowl , add black mustard powder, garlic paste and 2 tbsp of water to make a paste. Spread  the paste on both sides of hilsha fish  properly.Keep the fish aside.
Step 3:
In the same bowl where the left over paste remains, add the onion.Mix  the onion properly.Does not matter how little the paste is.
Step 4:
In a hot pan , add mustard oil, onion,1/2 tsp salt and the fish.Cook it on both side for (10+10) =20 minutes on a medium to low heat.Garnish with green chili and cilantro.

P.S The first image  is the uncooked one ,when I  follow step 4.
The second image looks like  more mustard.There are around 6 tbsp of  mustard powder which  I put accidentally.
