Cook time: 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
20 to 22 pieces of okra
1 cup masoor beans (Dal) Red Lentils or green lentils
1/2 cup Mong Beans (Dal)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder or paste
1/2 tsp ginger powder or paste
1 medium size onion chopped
2 tsp salt
2 green chili
1/4 cup cilantro
3 tbsp mustard oil or olive oil , don't use canola, its bad for health
3 cups of water
Directions:
1.Rinse all the beans together for 3 to 4 times. Wash okra properly and cut the head and tail of okra.
2.In a hot saucepan fry onion with oil for 2 to 3 minutes.
2.Then add turmeric,garlic,ginger,salt and cumin powder.Saute for 2 minutes and then add masoor beans and stir fry for 5 minutes then add 3 cups water and cook it for 10-15 minutes til the beans gets tender.
3.Then add okra .Mix everything properly.Cover the lid and cook it for 5 to 7 minutes at medium to low heat.
4.When the okra gets tender or cooked ,add cilantro and green chili.Simmer for 2 more minutes.
Serve hot with rice.
