Ingredients:
1. 3 cups rice
2. 1 cup Masoor beans (dal)
3. 1 cup Mong beans (dal)
4. 1/2 cup Urad beans (dal)
5. 1/2 cup green whole lentils or any other type of lentils
6. 1/2 cup mustard or extra virgin olive oil.
7. 6 or 7 garlic cloves
8. 2 Bay leaf (Optional)
9. 1 tbsp chopped ginger
10. 1 cinnamon stick
11. 2 medium size onion chopped
12. 1/2 cup fried onion (found in grocery store)
13. 3 tbsp salt
14. 4 to 5 green chili (Optional)
15. 2 medium size potato (bite size cut)
16. 1 cup chopped tomato
17. 1 lemon juice
18. 12 cup water
Preparation: (Rice Cooker version)
In the rice cooker pan , add rice and all types of beans .Wash it for 3 to 5 times.Now mix all the spices . Mix well.
You can mix with hand and break few of the rice so what the spices can enter into the rice.Add 12 cup water since 3cups rice+3 cups beans=6,so you have to put 12 cups of water.
Now set the pan on the rice cooker and turn on the button.After 30 min. you will have nice smelling lentil rice.Sprinkle some lemon juice on top and serve.
Its a no hassle cooking.

Gas Stove Version :
In a bowl , Add rice and all types of beans .Wash it for 3 to 5 times.Set it aside.
Now, in a hot saucepan, add oil and onion,garlic,saute for 5 min.
Now mix all the spices except green chili,lemon juice and fried onion.stir fry for 8 to 10 min. Now add the rice and beans and sautee for 10 to 15 min.
Add 12 cups water and cover with lid.After 15 to 20 min. the rice will soak the water and get soft and cooked.Now add green chili,fried onion and lemon juice about 2 tbsp on top and cook it for another 5 mintutes.
Serve with fried egg,chicken curry or beef curry with tomato-onion salad.
This is time consuming but this version is much more tastier than the rice cooker version since the cooking style is different.
