Bengali Style Mashed Asparagus (Asparagus Salsa)

This is one of my favorite recipes.I learned it from one of my friends. She made it so deliciously that thinking of that my mouth has  become watered.

Prep Time:15 Minutes
Cook time: 10 Minutes

Ingredients:
15 to 20 washed asparagus( cut them into pieces so that you can put them in a blender or in a food processor)
1 tbsp washed  Urad Beans or dal (Optional)
1 cup chopped onion
6 to 8 garlic cloves
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
Few mint leaves
1/2 tsp roasted black seeds and cumin seeds
1/2  cup mustard oil
1 to 2 green chili or roasted red chili or you can add more if you want hot and spicy
Few drops of lemon juice
If you  are planning to have  asparagus salsa just simply replace mustard oil with olive oil and add little water to make it dip like consistency to be taken with tortilla chips.

Directions:
step 1: In a hot pan add 1 tbsp mustard oil and saute urad dal for 3 to 5 minutes. Then add all the ingredients in the pan and stir fry for 5 to 10 minutes until everything gets tender and cooked.Turn of the heat and wait for 5 to 10 minutes until everything gets cool.

Step 2: Now, transfer everything in a blender or food processor. While the food processor is running ,slowly add rest of the mustard oil into the asparagus.Add few drops of lemon juice.Don't put  any water rather add more oil if the processor is not smashing the asparagus properly.

If you intend to make it like a dip to have it with  tortilla chips then add some water and olive oil.

When everything gets mashed,Bengali style mashed asparagus is ready to serve with rice.

Enjoy and have fun
