Small Tiny Whitebait Fish Curry (Keski Fish Curry)

Small tiny whitebait fish (Keski fish) is a tiny Bangladeshi fish resembling Silverfish but not quite. It is mostly cooked dry-style as opposed to a curry dish.But I am making this as a curry style.Hope, you will enjoy it .This fish is easy to cook and it does not take much time.

Small whitebait fish is good for hypothyroid.


Prep Time:20 Minutes 
Cook time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups of Small whitebait fish (Keski Fish)  around 1 pound
1 cup chopped potato
1 & 1/2 cups chopped onion
5 to 6 garlic cloves chopped
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ginger  powder

Use powder not the paste, there will be difference in taste if you use the paste.


1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp chili powder


1 & 1/2  tsp  salt or more
2 to 3 green chili cut in the middle length portion
No  water
Chopped mint and cilantro 1/4 cup
1/2 cup mustard or any  oil ,I am using mustard

Direction: 

Step 1:
Even though I got  the  cleaned fish from  packet still I will apply some extra caution since sometimes tiny snails or sea weeds  are  found in the fishes. 
So ,drain the water  from fish and mix 1 tbsp salt  in the fish.Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.I t will help to remove the excess fishy smell. 

Then, wash for 2 to 3 times. Take a small bunch of fish on the palm of your hand and check if there is any  small weeds or snails seen or not.Check the image. It may require time . But , I will do it for my mental satisfaction.Drain all the water from fish after cleaning.

Step 2 :
After the cleaning portion, in a sauce pan add all the  ingredients altogether except cilantro.Mix properly with a small spoon .Don't break the fish.

Step 3 :
Now place the sauce pan on gas stove and cook it for 20 minutes at a low heat.The fish,onion  will shed water.When its done the oil and  the spices will be separated as you can see in the image.

 Sprinkle cilantro and simmer for 5 minutes.

You can cook any other fish in the same way too. 

Keski  fish is ready to serve with white rice.
