Ridge Gourd Curry with Small Tiny Fish

I cooked the ridge gourd with small tiny fishes. And it turned out too really  good. I am using Molliya fish for this recipe. It's a small tiny fish. You can see how the fish looks like.

Prep Time:20 Minutes 
Cook time: 35 Minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups  moillya fish or any other small fish  around 1 pound
2 ridge gourd peeled,washed and chopped
2 cup chopped onion
5 to 6 garlic cloves chopped
1 tsp garlic paste/powder
1/2 tsp ginger  powder/paste
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1  tsp  salt
2 to 3 green chili cut in the middle length portion
2 to 3 tbsp  water
Chopped mint and cilantro 1/4 cup
7 tbsp  oil


Direction: 

Step 1:
Even though I got  the  cleaned fish from  packet still I will apply some extra caution since sometimes tiny snails or sea weeds  are  found in the fishes. 
So ,drain the water  from fish and mix 1 tbsp salt  in the fish.Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes. It will help to remove the excess fishy smell.I will clean the fishes one by one , it may require time.  But, I will do it for my mental satisfaction.Drain all the water after cleaning.

Step 2 :
After the cleaning portion, in a sauce pan add all the  ingredients all together except cilantro.Mix properly with a small spoon .Don't break the fish.Now place the sauce pan on gas stove and cook it for 30 minutes at a low heat.The fish,the ridge gourd,onion  will shed water.Stir occasionally.When its done the oil and  the spices will be separated as you can see in the image.

Sprinkle cilantro and simmer for 5 minutes.

You can cook any other fish in the same way too. 

Ridge gourd curry with small fish is ready to serve with white rice.Good during pregnancy and lowering cholesterol.
